ReviewsI have this seat in the Romantic fabric scheme. This seat has lasted until 7 months, and would go a little longer. My son is about 20 pounds, but is growing out of the height range. I have been very happy with this car seat! The pads wash very well, even after spit-ups and diaper blow-outs. You would never know to look at the pads. It clicks into the base easily and is very simple to install. A t the hospital they preferred this one because it lays newborns back a little more. remember to take the newborn insert out when your child reaches the appropriate size, and adjust the strap heights. This is VERY easy to do. This car seat is heavy and I almost never carry him in it. I don't know how it compares to other seats, but add a 10-20 pound baby and it's too much for me. I use a Maclaren Easy Traveller (much recommended over the coordinating Chicco travel system strollers) to get him everywhere. Put the seat in the frame, put the baby in, and go. The only time I lift the seat is to get it from the stroller frame inside the car. I would buy this seat again, but leave out the Cortina stroller. Great car seat. Nice looking. Very easy to install car seat base. Appealing design. It seems to be comfortable for the baby. The only thing I don't like about it is that it is heavy. But I think they can't make it less heavy because of the safety reasons. I use it with Baby Trend Snap and Go stroller and it fits OK. Very convenient. After trying the Graco and Britax counterparts, we decided to try the Chicco Keyfit Infant car seat. Having read the reviews, and having a sensitive nose, I bought it two weeks before my son's birth and put it in the car, hoping that, if I parked it in the sun, it would off-gas any bad odors. While it has been a relatively mild summer here, I have noticed very little smell! It's easy to clean, soft, attractive and - most importantly - feels really solid and safe. It's easy to use, too. We love it!! We havent had the chance to use this seat yet. But from taking in and out of the car to see how it works it is very easy and feels very safe. We like the color scheme since all the stores had were the same bland designs this works a lot better. The second base we got also is perfect so we don't have to move the whole set up and reattach and tighten everything. ReviewsI researched this before buying on consumer reports. It meets all expectations and is easy to install. We recently purchased the Chicco Keyfit 30 after doing much research for our third child. I am a certified car seat technician and have installed a ton of infant carriers and bases. A consistent problem that I see is that most kids these days out grow their infant carrier well before they turn 1 year of age and 20 lbs, thus the parents have to resort to a bulky convertible car seat. This car seat gives you the flexibility to have your child stay in the infant carrier until they are 30lbs or out grow the seat due to their length. This is by far the easiest base that I have ever installed. I installed the base in one vehicle using a seatbelt and the 2nd base in the other vehicle using LATCH. Both installations took less than five minutes, this base makes it so easy. I would definitely recommend this car seat and base. You definitely get what you pay for; this is the best investment in infant carriers and bases. It also makes it convenient that it can be used with the Chicco Stroller. No matter what type of car seat you choose, always have a certified car seat technician assist you with the installation. Over 90% of car seat installations have a misuse or improper installation. This is a great infant carrier and base. I would highly recommend this to anyone. I purchased two of these for my granddaughters, who are now over 1 year old. They have been one of the best baby purchases I have ever made. I really wish I had had these for my own children. They are heavy (carrying twins in these at the same time is quite a muscle-builder and eliminates the need to go to a gym for a workout), but they are so convenient for placing children in and out of cars. You will want to add some additional sun protection since the sunshades are inadequate, but that's a small quibble. You will want to add an insert pad for small newborns or premies, but that's the case with every seat I've ever seen that holds larger children as well. They are easy to adjust; we have to do it all the time, because the two girls are somewhat different sizes, and we don't use a particular seat for a certain child. It's very nice that you can use the seat for up to 30 lbs.; many seats that are sold are not for children this heavy. It has high safety ratings. It is easy to unsnap the straps to remove the child. The handle conveniently folds back out of the way when you need to place the child in or out of the seat. If they fall asleep in the car, just remove the seat and carry the whole thing inside; you don't have to disturb the sleeping baby. Super convenient. At over a year of age, the girls still easily fit into the seats. I anticipate several more months of use at least. We bought extra bases so that we can use the seats in our car and our daughter doesn't have to remove the bases from their vehicle. I am also planning to purchase one of these for my daughter-in-law, who is expecting in the near future, so I'm a repeat customer. Highly recommended. I highly recommend this car seat. Well designed, well made. Very handy to be able to leave the base in the car, just unsnap the carrier & go. I ordered this car seat because it was rated by Consumer Digest as the safest. It is definately easy to use. My only complaint is that the material is not soft. It's kind of has a vinyl feel to it.
